The London Police began in 1998 when the big English geezers headed to Amsterdam and started rejuvenating the visually disappointing streets of the drug capital of the world.
The characters known as ‘LADS’ soon held an iconic presence in the city. Electricity boxes became their home and between 1998 and 2003, over 1000 LADS were drawn in the city. From 2002 onward, TLP expanded their horizon and LADS began to appear in other cities streets, such as London, Manchester, Brussels, Barcelona, Berlin, Munich, Milano, Torino, Copenhagen, New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Shanghai and beyond.
The motive was to combine travel and making art to create an amazing way of life not seen since the days of King Solomon. TLP work has since graced streets and galleries in 35 countries.
Founding members Chaz and Bob Gibson are still known to walk the streets worldwide and spread love with pens and stickers. The current duo have managed to form a partnership more cohesive than Han Solo and Chewbacca and are continuing to produce slick artwork that is tighter than a butlers cuff.
